Forever Fosters

Our forever fosters are pets that are not considered adoptable due to behavioral and/or medical special needs. They will remain in the care of Mercy's Door Pet Rescue where they are safe and comfortable. We still enjoy sharing photos and videos of them on social media and will graciously accept donations towards their treatment.

Gator

Gator was rescued as an owner surrender in 2014. Gator has clinical Separation Anxiety and Generalized Anxiety Disorder. He has made amazing progress in his foster home with the help of his veterinary behavior team, but we learned it was very challenging and stressful for him to adjust to a new home and routine. Gator has had a lot of adoption inquiries, but we decided it was in Gator's best interest to live the rest of his life as a forever foster where he feels safe and happy. He is also a great role model for the foster puppies that come and go. Gator is a fan favorite and we plan to keep sharing his photos and antics on our social media!

Nelson

Nelson was rescued as a stay kitten with his sister Isabella. We are a dog rescue and unfortunately he never got any adoption interest. He's been thriving in his foster placement so his foster mama decided to make him a forever foster. Nelson is a chill purr machine and loves dogs. He has been such a great asset to the rescue because now we can "cat test" our dogs! He has also helped a few puppies learn appropriate boundaries with their feline friends.

Isabella

Isabella was rescued as a stay kitten with her brother Nelson. We are a dog rescue and unfortunately she never got any adoption interest. She's been thriving in her foster placement so her foster mama decided to make her a forever foster. Isabella loves to be held and snuggled. She is so sweet and social! She has been such a great asset to the rescue because now we can "cat test" our dogs! She has also helped a few puppies learn appropriate boundaries with their feline friends.

Winnie

Winnie was rescued from Cleveland City Dogs in 2020. While in foster care, we learned that Winnie has inoperable cancer. Because of this, she will remain as a forever foster in our program. She is such a quirky, silly little lady and fits perfectly in her foster home! She doesn't know she is sick and is just living her best life. She also loves snuggling with fellow forever fosters Gator, Nelson, and Isabella!

Dulce

Creed

Creed was rescued from Summit County Animal Control, where he had been turned in as an owner surrender. Creed is incredibly handsome and strong, but he has some unique behavioral quirks that made finding the ideal home a bit of a challenge. He know resides as a forever foster with our Founder.

Dulce was rescued as a deaf puppy. She is sweet, playful, and knows several hand cues. Dulce went on a trial adoption, but we discovered she was unconsolably anxious in a new home with new people. Dulce is now a forever foster with our Founder.
